What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think of arthritis?

Pain? Swollen Joints?

How about Photobiomoduation?

No, not familiar with that term?

Arthritis Statistics

  • Arthritis is more common in women (23.5%) compared with men (18.1%),
  • Arthritis is more common among adults with fair/poor health (40.5%) compared with those who have excellent/very good health (15.4%),

That is a LOT of pain and suffering and impact to quality of life!

No doubt arthritis is painful, uncomfortable, and can be debilitating. Advanced arthritis can significantly impact the ability to do simple tasks, cause frustration, fuel a loss of self confidence, influence how one sees oneself, and lead to depression. Even if you don’t have arthritis yourself, chances are you know someone (or lots of someones) who does; maybe even someone suffering from gnarled fingers, joints that are swollen out of proportion, an inability to grasp a utensil or walk without pain. It is common for long-time sufferers to give up beloved hobbies, socialize less, and withdraw into their disease.

There are medications, creams, injections, and surgeries used to alleviate symptoms or attempt to correct or stem the progression, but they commonly have side effects and are not always well tolerated.

A therapy rapidly growing in popularity due to its foundation in scientific research and reproducible effectiveness, is Light Therapy, or Photobiomodulation.

Photobiomodulation – A Big Word That Does BIG Things!

Photobiomodulation is a natural, safe, and drug free way to lower pain, improve circulation, and promote cellular repair.

Photobiomodulation is the scientific term for what is more commonly known as Light Therapy, LED Therapy, Low-Level Light Therapy, “Cold” Laser, and several others. The key to making sense of the word (and it IS a mouthful) and what it does, is breaking it down into manageable pieces.

Photo, as in photons/light. Bio, as in biological. Modulation, as in change.

Proper application of Photobiomodulation, or Light Therapy, involves modulating the biological processes of the body with Light/photons!

When the correct wavelengths of Light are applied, the photons trigger a systemic response that provides our cells with energy in the form of ATP (adenosine tri-phosphate). This energy is what allows cells to do their jobs and complete the functions needed to keep us healthy and thriving.

It sounds amazing because it IS amazing.

What Does It Mean for Arthritis Sufferers?

If you could safely and non-invasively lower pain would you be more comfortable? More likely to resume activities and hobbies you love?

If you could improve circulation to the joints, enhancing blood flow and oxygen availability, would you have more peace of mind and freedom from worry?

If you could stimulate cellular renewal to allow cells to have more energy and recover from damage would you feel more confident about your health and well-being?

Would having the ability to do all of this for yourself give you a greater sense of empowerment and confidence?

We hope your answer to all is a resounding,

YES!

How Do You Get Started?

The key to effective, consistent, reproducible Light Therapy results is knowing which wavelength (or color) of Light to use, where to use it, and for how long. That’s why it’s important to find a qualified Practitioner to guide you through:

  • identifying what kind of Light Therapy device will work best for you
    • panel
    • pad-based system
    • hand-held device
    • photopuncture torch (allows for the activation of acupuncture points without the use of needles)
    • polychromatic vs one “color” or wavelength
    • pulsed light vs non-pulsed
  • how to identify a quality device
  • dosing parameters – how long to use the device to get the results you need (and avoid the ones you don’t!)
  • measuring your progress
